With the use of 3D-printed sand cores and packages, small series or individual parts can also be presented economically in the case of centrifugal casting. Sand casting molds from the 3D printer could shorten throughput times and reduce refinishing to better surface quality in the raw castings. And electroplating gives the goddess trophy a better surface.
Solution
- Step 1: Create a negative model of the goddess trophy by boolean operation. Produce the casting mold with a CNC milling machine and steel boards.
- Step 2: Cast the trophies copies with centrifugal casting technology using lead-tin alloy as it has low melting points and high fluidity.
- Step 3: Cut off the pouring gate with wire EDM technique and polish the surface. Rinse the models with an inhibited alkaline cleaner and electroplate them with 24K gold.
